The Saints are certainly rejoicing for there are some visitors…An Ecumenical group from Oak Park and River Forest, which comes to meet with Bishop Jean Marie Roger Kozik; the latter welcomes his friends in Christ, and especially Reverend McCord from Austin Boulevard Christian Church who has been supporting the work of the Bishop since his very arrival in Chicago, several years ago.

Very dedicated to help the poor, he always helped us through generous donations of toys, clothes and food. In a few weeks, he will be leaving to retire in New Jersey: we will regret his leaving…

Today, he comes to introduce his pastoral group to Bishop Jean Marie, which is composed of several Christian Churches: thusly, Rev. Edgar Hiestand Jr. from Northern Illinois Conference United Methodist Church, Rev. Steve Howland, Pastor from United Methodist Church of River Forest. They give a very interesting testimony because they have known our Church long before it was consecrated Catholic.

Father Robert A. Cross, from the Catholic Parish of the Ascension Church of Oak Park, who saw the Sanctuary of our Church for the first time, as well as other Pastors and lay people from First United Church of Oak Park, First United Methodist Church, St Catherine-Ste Lucy Catholic Church and Austin Blvd Christian Church.

Everyone sits around a nicely set and dressed table for this friendly collation, and shares his impressions with Bishop Jean Marie, asking him about his charitable and religious activities here in the Austin area and in other areas of Chicago, but also across the United States and in the world.

They do not hide their astonishment in seeing so much work accomplished at the service of the poorest and they also really admire all the works that came about in such a short period of time in the Church and the new Soup Kitchen.

Rev. McCord invites Bishop Jean Marie to say a word of welcome in his Church for Easter Sunday, at the time of his last liturgical Ceremony in Austin before his departure for New Jersey.

Everyone leaves, delighted by this exchange, promising to aid and help Fraternite Notre Dame in its service for the poor. It is certain that this get-together will bear its fruits of friendship and sharing.

May God bless this friendship among the various Christian Congregations!
