Trip to our Mongolia Mission, June of 2003

Mongolia, a place of vast expanses of land and great horizons, welcomes us on this 24 of June for a very special ceremony, for in the name of the President of the French Republic, Mr. Jacques Chirac, His Excellency Mr. Jacques Olivier Manent is going to confer on the Most Rev. Bishop Jean Marie Roger Kozik, Founder and Superior General of Fraternite Notre Dame, Knighthood in the National Order of Merit.

The distinction is widely acclaimed by our Religious from Fraternite Notre Dame, our French friends, and the prominent persons from Mongolia and foreign countries who came on the occasion, including our friends from the Rotary Club that await the Bishop as their member and honor guest.

The days elapse, dedicated to deeply moving visits, I can even say heartrending encounters, to the poor living in yurts, in the galleries of sewers, in ruined buildings, or narrow stairways.

The Most Rev. Bishop Jean Marie, with his religious people, provides both moral and spiritual relief, along with bundles of food and various utensils.

Other families in need hurry to the Hospital of Charity and free restaurant, to explain their problems and needs to Bishop Jean Marie, who takes the time to listen to each one and find a way to help.

Then takes place a visit to the piece of land that will become the Village of Our Lady of Frechou: very crucial to determine locations for the water well, and the new Cross that the Bishop will bless on July 2nd, 03, with the faithful.

Again some time was reserved for a spiritual retreat to benefit the religious of Fraternite Notre Dame working in Mongolia; it was preached by the Bishop in the open country, in a magnificent setting of greens and mountains, not far from the capital.

Finally, joy is in everyone's heart as 25 new baptisms are performed among the little and the grown, this Sunday consecrated to the Sacred Heart; they will be followed by the parish feast, organized by the Most Rev. Bishop Jean Marie, when a great spirit of charity and good humor will prevail after the example of the first Christians.

For this work, at the service of the poorest of the poor, we need your financial help in order to aid each one according to his or her needs, as our means are extremely scarce.

As for you, give of your heart to this piece of land in Mongolia, to the heart of these starving children, these thorn families. And God will know how to repay you at the appointed time, in your difficult moments.

To provide housing for a Mongolian family in a traditional tent, the "yurt", you may contribute to the purchase of one yurt which amounts to US$600.

Again, I contribute to take a poor family out of the sewer galleries or some ruined dwelling, and I commit to pay $_____ for __ yurt(s).

A health center, maternity, school, orphanage, village chapel and detoxification center are also planned at the Village of our Lady of Frechou, for both the families at the village and in the neighborhood. Work Shops again will be created to help these people make a living.

I want to contribute in the amount of $______ for the implementation of these projects.
