The Conference of "Food for Survival",
food
bank for New York City,
was held this morning, September 7, 2004; we had
been chosen with another organization, to lead a workshop presenting
volunteers that the food bank sends to us: groups of disabled people,
or coming from schools or diverse corporations.
I
explained about Most Reverend Bishop Jean Marie and our activities,
how he handed over to us his inspiration for the work here in New
York City, but also in all our Missions; I thanked the Food Bank
and its personnel for their help.
They
had asked me to mention a certain corporate team that came about
2 weeks ago, and thanks to their coming, the Food Bank had awarded
some money to help us buy food.
Again,
I described our work, the help provided to handicapped persons,
who love it to come and volunteer here, and the children; the fact
the poor people we attend like to be served by different categories
of volunteers, as it greatly facilitates their contacts.
Many
people were present at the workshop, over 80 in all. The President
thanked us for having accepted to come and testify about this valuable
help that we receive from Food for Survival, the Food Bank for New
York City.
A
high school will try its best to come and help us on a regular basis
this year, at the soup kitchen, food pantry and for our meals or
clothing distributions to the homeless.
